CORE MODULES
Perform the full scope of well and seismic data activities using a single interface with access to several integrated modules.

Seismic data management

Data management with Exploration Archives is all-inclusive and manages seismic data and exploration well data including seismic 2D, 3D, 4D, Vertical Seismic Profile (VSP), microseismic, field, pre-stack, post-stack, navigation, velocity and support documents. The result is a complete view of the inventory of your data repository and access to all associated files and reports.

Data migration and importing handles batches of data in one process and scans for SEG-Y attributes for indexing. Enter new files and index the data with tags that narrow to the most specific seismic feature or file detail, making searches easy and fast.

Exploration Archives uses automated internal database configuration, file security protocols and file synchronization. Run standard or custom reports and refine your data management controls.
Data remediation and internal procedures monitor the quality and integrity of your data. The quality assurance procedures identify errors and discrepancies in the data, and flags for further investigation.

Well data management

The well data component of Exploration Archives is an effective platform for loading, storing and accessing exploration well data including well logs and curves, well cores and well reports.

An innovative process facilitates scanning and loading large volumes of well log data files, log cores and associated documents and images to the database. Extensive cataloguing procedures organize the data into an easily accessible geographical display and a text-based grid.

The powerful search tool enables detailed queries for targeting available data and associated physical media. The map view displays the location of wells and provides an instant view of the available log files and well curves. The files available through a text search or map search can be selected and downloaded to a workstation in the preferred industry standard format.

Bin grid management

The Bin Grid module is an interface for creating, editing and managing bin grids. The bin grids are available for acquisition or processing projects, and linking the bin grid definitions to seismic surveys and products. The built-in algorithms provide precision when assessing the integrity of the positioning data for acquisition and processing projects, and for creating load sheets.

For effective data management, the bin grid properties and details link to your data with the projected CRS, quality control sequences, seismic and file links, the bin geometry, and a variety of other data details.

Interactive map view

The map view provides a geographical display of seismic and well data with custom representations at regional and global levels. Filter the data by specifying coordinate systems, grids, projections and datum. Performing a database search for particular data displays the results on the map, with the option to instantly transfer the detail to a grid for further actions.

The map provides an interface for dynamically drawing seismic lines as an additional method for uploading new data. The database instantly refreshes in preparation for quality assurance on the new navigation. The instant mapping of data offers opportunity to verify spatial integrity and perform quality control procedures.

The map interface communicates with Esri® ArcGIS® map controls and supports Esri transformation routines.

SEG-Y quality control

The SEG-Y Scan tool performs a scanning process that extracts critical detail and creates replicas of the data in a compressed ‘snapshot’ format. This innovative tool reduces storage requirements, removes the need to manage templates and provides a quick view of the data.

The scanning method performs internal quality control measures and identifies compromised data for further investigation. The resulting images and extracted attributes provide adequate information for on-demand quality checking and verification.

SEG-Y SnapShot generates a live trace outline, amplitude map, time sections and time slice. The scanning process extracts the data fields from the EBCDIC header, the set of coordinates and SEG-Y attributes. The tool automatically catalogues the SEG-Y detail into Exploration Archives. Geoscientists can quickly examine the snapshots to determine if the files are relevant to the current project before downloading the data to a workstation.

Data order management

The Data Request module is a self-serve interface for accessing the seismic data repository and facilitates the data delivery process with efficiency. The versatile request system manages internal and external requests for both digital and physical data.

Internal geophysicists access the repository using an authenticated user account. For multi-client use and customer sales, public access accounts are available.

The Data Request module locates data and processing requests in a single work order for online, nearline and offline data. The request fields include areas for entering detailed notes and attaching files such as scanned shipping receipts, quality control reports and other supplementary information.

After submitting a request, the system tracks the transmittals for physical shipments and maintains a processing record of the media and the files and products stored on the media.

Automatic email notifications send to the recipient with transmittal information, including an Excel® file listing the requested data information. The file transfer process integrates with a data delivery subsystem that maintains a full audit record.

Project Tracker

Project Tracker integrates with Exploration Archives to manage and track seismic acquisition projects. Project Tracker provides complete visibility for organizing and monitoring all aspects of large-scale data acquisition.

Throughout the process of an acquisition project, Project Tracker is the central interaction point for the geophysicist and the data management team to manage and monitor the status of expected deliverables through to project completion. The system tracks data movement, logs the status of activities and maintains a historical record of project details. With automated status notifications, stakeholders stay informed in real time.

Archive and remediation

Exploration Archives includes specific functionality and workflows that support remastering and rationalization projects.

With a proactive approach to quality control, Exploration Archives includes automated functions for identifying errors, cataloguing and migrating data. The system assesses data integrity with quality control workflows during the uploading process for new data, and while maintaining the current data.

Sophisticated quality control tasks evaluate the data to verify completeness, ensure accuracy and avoid duplicates.

Data access and retrieval

Quickly and easily access data stored at any location, on any server, online, offline or nearline using a single interface with simple navigation and flexible workflows.

Developing data to a clean and reliable state requires the collaboration of various expert groups, and Exploration Archives is the ideal shared workspace. Built on a distributed architecture, the software is accessible for multiple users from any location to work closely on data projects.

Security protocols and authenticated access safeguards your data and ensures only approved users have access to your assets. With endless role profile possibilities, each user has distinct access and privileges. Easily customize profiles according to particular criteria such as limiting to read-only, providing access to certain data sets or limiting the map layers.

Locating digital and physical data is seamless with Exploration Archives’ powerful search engine and custom filters. Users access, view, upload, index and manage well and seismic data with no delay in workflow.

Administration and settings

The Administration module is a secure interface for designated administrators to manage user profiles, create custom workflows and configure unique data fields. The Administration module includes an area for maintaining the details of approved vendors and business associates.

The administrator controls the quality standards for the metadata by creating and defining table parameters and setting the field entry limitations. Setting custom coordinate transformations, map layers and file transfer paths further enhances the user workflows.

Building custom templates for reports and searches provides additional resources for particular departments, and local and regional offices.

The Administration module includes access for setting unique system codes and system properties.

Low cost, high value – your geoscientists will thank you for this.
