2017 Exploration Archives user group meeting

2017 Exploration Archives user group meeting

Expert users, prospective users, and members of the Talus team gathered on March 1 and 2 in The Woodlands, Texas, for Talus’ first Exploration Archives user group meeting. Seismic data professionals from North America, Africa and Europe met to share their expertise, learn from each other, and explore how Exploration Archives helps solve their unique data management problems.

The two-day agenda included speakers from major exploration and production companies who presented on topics including seismic data remediation, multi-client data management, managing acquisition projects, managing physical media in a warehouse environment, and specialized bin grid management. Managing seismic data is complex and challenging, and the presenters demonstrated how Exploration Archives can simplify these challenges and increase productivity for data managers.

One of the main objectives of the event was for users to provide input for the next major release of Exploration Archives. With this in mind, Talus presented exclusive previews of several upcoming features and followed up with breakout sessions for attendees to discuss and provide feedback. The features presented varied from general interface improvements to a major redesign of the navigation loading function. The positive discussions during the breakout sessions were highly productive and generated great ideas that Talus will definitely be incorporating into their development plan.

Based on attendee feedback and from Talus’ perspective the user group meeting was a resounding success. The interactive discussions, informative presentations and general atmosphere of community suggests that the event is worth repeating, and Talus expects to do just that.
